Michael Virden Engraved Glass Ltd was founded in 1971 by Michael Virden to supply Churches and Cathedrals with glass and crystal items for their gift shops. As Michael refined and developed his unique sandblasting skills he soon expanded the customer base to include other gift shops as well as a wide range of clubs and societies alongside regular attendance at the UK’s leading county shows.

Over the years, the customer base expanded and changed as new decoration techniques were developed in house by Michael and his team and new markets were established.

After a long history working with Michael Virden Engraved Glass, Royal Scot Crystal, in June 2018 purchased the name and intellectual property and continue with supplying the highest quality engraved crystal and glass.

Royal Scot Crystal is known for exquisitely hand made and skilfully hand cut crystal and has a reputation for producing the very finest British hand cut crystal tableware and giftware reflecting the very best in design and craftsmanship.

The managing director Malcolm Sergent has been involved in this prestigious crystal business for thirty years and took over from his father who also had been in the crystal tableware business all his working life.

The business is now managed by the third generation with great success and the company is renowned for the superb quality and diversity of its products and excellent customer service.

Royal Scot Crystal offers one of the most comprehensive ranges under one brand, including a very successful selection of classical wine suites along with contemporary collections. The brand is known worldwide for its prestigious intricately cut wine glasses used in palaces and the finest homes in the United Kingdom and North America.
